Ca' di Mat roughly translates as 'House of Fools' in the local Piedmontese accent - but don't be fooled, this duo of outstanding winemakers aren't just any court jesters. This 100% grenache from central Spain's Gredo mountain region, just west of Madrid is an excellent example of organic winemaking. Several small parcels on red granite are selected and the fruit has a gentle 90 day maceration with whole brunch fermentation, then aged for one year, 50% concrete and 50% old French 500 litre barrels. Delicate & expressive, natural & wonderfully light considering the amount of time it's been aged & macerated on it's skin.
